Beat Those Beauty Bag Bugs

Most of us are unaware that our attractiveness bags are hubs for yeast, bacteria, and fungi. A recent study found 79 to 90% of makeup were infected with possible harmful bacteria and fungi. Beauty blending sponges, in particular, were found to maintain the maximum pollution –with 93 percent of owners reporting they had never cleaned them.

Although bugs in our beauty maintenance is a true concern, here are some basic actions to help keep them clean and safe to use.

  • Wash your hands before applying makeup.
  • Keep cosmetics sealed when not in use.
  • Be sure that cosmetic brushes are washed weekly with mild shampoo.
  • Prevent sharing makeup.
  • Don’t apply makeup on receptive skin, sores, or cracks.
  • If you think you’ve got an eye infection or the eye region is red, wait until it is healed before applying eye makeup.
  • Request individual-use applicators when searching cosmetics.
  • Discard old makeup and applicators.
  • Store makeup in a cool, dry location.
